Boy Scouts

The Boy Scouts provide a fun-filled learning experience for boys while building character, fostering good citizenship and developing fitness. Activities include regular meetings and outdoor activities. Jeff Tonner, 602-277-2340

Columbia Squires

This the official youth organization of the Knights of Columbus for young men between the ages of 10 and 18. The purpose of the Squires is to teach leadership qualities as well as serve the community and the Catholic Church. A “Circle” is run by the Squires with the Knights of Columbus acting as counselors. Together they learn to help others, expand their faith while trying to live their lives with the Youth Christ as their role model. John Phillips, 623-341-6823.

CTODP

The 1998 Arizona Tuition Tax Credit Act provides a dollar-for-dollar credit against your State Tax liability up to a maximum of $825.00 for married couples and $500.00 for single people. Contributions to Ss. Simon & Jude School (#188) help provide financial assistance to students who might otherwise not be able to attend our school. Contributions must be made by December 31st to qualify. Forms are available in both the Parish and School Offices. Volunteers can support this program by distributing brochures and answering basic questions about the program before and after Mass from late September through the end of the year. Cub Scouts

Cub Scouts is an informal educational program for young boys designed to train them in the responsibilities of participatory citizenship, providing growth in moral strength, and enhancing the development of physical and emotional fitness, all done in the spirit of fun! Allan Smolko, 602-692-9997

Fellowship after Mass (occasionally need volunteers)

Gift Shop Volunteer

The SSJ Cathedral Gift Shop is open every day: M, T, Th, F – 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Wed – 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sat – 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sun – 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. The shop sells many beautiful religious articles for all occasions and sacramental preparation. We have Baptism Sets, Confirmation, First Communion and Marriage items, as well as for Anointing of the Sick. Volunteers assist in sales, customer service, inventory, pricing, merchandising and general cleaning. Kathy Lopez or Armeda Valverde, 602-246-2569

Girl Scouts, Brownies, Daisies

The Girl Scout Program is dedicated to inspiring girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism and service so that they may become happy and resourceful citizens. Any girl in grades K-8 is welcome to become a part of the program. Age groups are as follows: Daisies - Kindergarten; Brownies - 1st through 3rd grade; Junior Girl Scouts - 4th through 6th grade; Cadets - 7th through 9th grade. Lisa Stoutenburg 602-995-5046

General Parish Volunteers

Periodically volunteers are needed to help with specialized tasks. Please let us know if you have skills in areas such as the following: carpentry, office help, lawn maintenance, plumbing, electrical, transportation, and hospitality events. Barbara Hennessey, ext. 114

Knights of Columbus

We are a fraternal organization dedicated to the precepts of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism, founded by Fr. Michael J. McGivney in 1882, to render financial aid to members and their families. We are still doing so today, on a much grander scale. Summer League Volunteer

The Ss. Simon and Jude Summer League operates a baseball and softball program for young athletes at all skill levels, emphasizing the values and morals of our Catholic faith. We are actively seeking involvement among parish and school families to serve as coaches, snack bar attendants, and any and all other capacities of interest.
